I’ve never felt like we were leaving friends at the end of a vacation like that. What an experience! And what a gift for our kids to experience such hospitality-people going totally above and beyond. Well, César talked to Marcela who ended-up bringing us homemade tamales (made by her mother) to try. Near the end of our week, my husband wanted to try Costa Rican Tamales which he’d heard were a Costa Rican Christmas specialty, so he asked Cesar where he could find them thinking he’d get a good referral. Strawberry and mango smoothies -favorites of the kiddos, and my favorite - the frozen blackberry margarita! (Thank you César for the introduction, Gerardo for the prep, and Oscar for the one our last night in Costa Rica). Every single meal was a home run and we tried a LOT! And don’t forget the amazing drinks. We have three teens and a tween and the quality of the food had them venturing out and trying dishes they had never heard of. (To mention a few of our favorites -The Catch of the Day, seafood pasta -both the fettuccini and ravioli, octopus, filet minion, and my favorite-the vegetarian salad with quinoa and the Costa Rican arroz con pollo.). We ate many of our meals there because the food is THAT good, the menu that varied, and the people that fun to be around. Breakfast is served each morning at the Rico Tico Jungle Grill and is amazing - not just the food which is so fresh, but the people who work there are unparalleled in their hospitality -the care they put into the service and their friendliness. Our family stayed at Si Como No for the week of Christmas.
